The tradition of caroling by the Lakeside Singers began in 2008 when newcomers to the Lakeside area lamented missing the festive spirit of caroling from their previous homes.
To fill the gap, the group decided to sing at local convalescent and independent living homes. Since then, the tradition has continued annually—except during the 2020 Covid pandemic—spreading holiday cheer with growing participation. Each year, more singers don festive apparel, including Santa hats, Christmas ties, elf costumes, and even a shirt declaring, “I can get you on the naughty list!”
Lakeside Singers require no rehearsals or membership fees. Participants can choose their level of involvement, whether singing at one home, a few, or all. Out-of-town guests, children and grandchildren are welcome to join. Singing ability is not required—carolers don’t need to carry a tune or read music. Just bring your festive spirit and a copy of the song sheets, which can be emailed to you by Kay Borkowski.
