The Lakeside Memory Neighborhood group is hosting an open house on Wednesday, May 26, to introduce a Montessori-inspired program designed for persons living with dementia. The event will take place at the Casa Sonia home for elders, Paseo de la Pesca, La Floresta, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
The daytime program for dementia patients and caregivers will focus on purposeful activities of sensory engagement, cognitive stimulation, music and movement, art and creative expression, and social interaction. The pilot project will be open not only to Casa Sonya residents, but also to local families facing the challenges of dementia and memory loss.
The cost for attending the open house is 250 pesos per person. It includes game time, musical entertainment by Jeffree White, a presentation on the pilot project, and lunch from the Mexican taquiza buffet.
