Chef and cooking instructor Linda R. Harley is joining forces with the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) to provide memorable cooking experiences for small groups of area residents in a series of December classes.

Eight local textile artists, members of Kindred Quilters sponsored a well-attended show of their work on November 8 in La Floresta. Among the more than 150 people visiting the exhibit were visitors from Monterrey, and Brazil.

Rock and More is the perfect name for the Wednesday, November 19 fundraising event at La Huerta. The evening will be filled with the great music from the 1950s through the 1970s, dance contests, raffles and awards for the best hippie costumes. This event promises to be a great kick off for the high season.

Mac Whyte, interim president of the Satellite Rotary E-Club of Lake Chapala, is accepting pledges for the virtual walk from his home in San Juan Cosalá to Mexico City that he plans to complete by the end of February.

Juan Allera, director of a San Miguel de Allende sausage and cheese-making company, was the featured speaker at the October 20 meeting of the Culinary Arts Society of Ajijic (CASA). He offered the group insights on the fusion of French and Mexican food, and discussed the making of cheese and sausage in San Miguel, Guadalajara and at lakeside.

Operación Compasión, a community-driven initiative to provide free sterilization for the cats and dogs of families of limited resources living in the Jocotepec municipality, is sponsoring a fundraiser, the Spay-ghetti No Balls Dinner, on Saturday, November 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Raquet Club.
