‘Church in a Box’ hits the Mazamitla road

Christ Church Lakeside will join La Sagrada Familia (The Holy Family) Mission in Mazamitla on Sunday, March 30, for a combined celebratory “Church in a Box” service and the now traditional “Moveable Feast” of fried chicken and accompanying side dishes provided by the lakesiders.


Chapala city hall is all dolled up

Art lovers and fans of Mexican folk art who missed the delightful March 7 opening of Mi Muñeca (My Dolly) should consider hustling over to Chapala City Hall before the end of next week to have a look at this extraordinary exhibit of 36 papier maché figurines interpreted in very inventive ways by various Guadalajara and Lakeside artists.

The Chapala municipal government has released a limited edition of “Leyendas de Chapala,” a collection of local myths based on oral folk tales handed down through the generations.

DAR boosts lakeside education

Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Lake Chapala Chapter attended the graduation ceremony at the Chapala Technology Institute on Wednesday, February 26 to congratulate Juan Pablo Chavez, who received a degree in Industrial Engineering specializing in Automated Manufacturing.  The chapter had paid for the tuition of Chavez. He is the second student supported by the chapter to graduate from the Institute.
