Open Circle

A Panel Presentation, “To Whom I May Concern: Living with Memory Changes,” takes place at the next meeting of Open Circle, Sunday, July 6, 10:30 a.m. at the Lake Chapala Society.Trained facilitator Elly Contreras will guide a group of Lakeside seniors in sharing their experiences with aging and memory loss. The first such performance of this work (in Mexico) was held in April and the cast is reprising their presentation for Open Circle. Companion presenter Alicia Knox will generate a real-time creative recounting of these experiences and share with the audience how the onset of memory loss is witnessed by those experiencing this challenge.

St. Andrew’s Anglican Church held its semi-annual Outreach Grant Awards ceremony, Sunday, May 4, awarding more than 388,000 pesos in grants in the areas of health, education and community care, specifically for local in-need children, women and families.

Cabañas tour

The Lake Chapala Society is hosting a tour of the Cabañas Museum in Guadalajara on Wednesday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A bilingual guide will lead visitors through José Clemente Orozco’s powerful murals, the stunning neoclassical architecture, and current temporary exhibits. After the tour, participants will have free time to explore downtown, visit the Cathedral, relax in the Plaza de Armas, and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
