Charter Club, lakeside’s premier tour and travel agency, is back on the road after scaling back activities over the past year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
While Mexico’s tourism industry as a whole has been hit hard since the pandemic spread south of the border in March 2020, Charter Club managed to stay in business even after temporarily closing its doors until last June. Initially, the family-run business stuck to travel agency services before gradually reinstating tours in the fall for small groups of travelers, following all appropriate health precautions.
My teenage granddaughter and I were privileged to join 16 lakeside residents on a May 28 day-trip to the city of Lagos de Moreno. From the moment we boarded the comfortable tour bus for the 7 a.m. departure from the Centro Laguna parking area, Charter Club proprietors Carlos Alfaro and wife Rosy Cepeda and assistant Adrián Ramírez were insistent that everyone keep face masks on and frequently cleanse their hands.
