Revered Guadalajara-born photojournalist José Hernández-Claire, perhaps better classified as a “street” or “instantaneous” photographer, died less than a year ago at age 72. (See “Acclaimed Guadalajara photojournalist passes,” Guadalajara Reporter, September 23, 2021.)
The University of Guadalajara’s MUSA lost no time in mounting a retrospective of his powerful images, “Tempus Instans,” open until September 25, since Hernández-Claire attended the UdeG, although master’s studies at the prestigious Pratt Institute in New York brought his love of photography into focus.
