The U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara is reinforcing Donald Trump’s tough stance on immigration across multiple platforms.
Following a series of social media posts since January 20, a press release issued this week by Merlyn Schultz, the U.S. Regional Consul for Public Affairs in Guadalajara, warned that “any attempt to enter the United States illegally, lie to obtain a visa, work without legal permission, or remain in the U.S. after your visa or visa waiver expires will result in severe penalties. These penalties include imprisonment, deportation, and a permanent ban from obtaining a visa in the future.”
The statement continued, emphasizing the dangers faced by illegal migrants: “It is critical to understand that your safety—and even your life—are at risk. Criminal groups, cartels, and human traffickers prey on illegal migrants, subjecting them to violence, extortion, and abuse. Many never reach their destination … The United States is working with countries across the Western Hemisphere to detain and deport people attempting to enter illegally before they even reach the U.S. border. By securing our borders, we not only protect American citizens but also prevent the suffering caused by illegal migration. President Trump is holding everyone accountable.”
