Love In Action has nothing to do with illegal adoption

Dear Sir,

This letter is in response to the public coverage of erroneous stories recently circulated about the Love in Action Children’s Center. It has been falsely reported that Love in Action Children’s Center, located in Chapala, Jalisco, has been involved in practices associated with the alleged illegal Irish adoptions of Mexican children.

To clarify, Love in Action Children’s Center houses, feeds, clothes and educates battered, neglected and abandoned children, the majority of whom are placed with Love in Action’s facility by the Mexican government. Love in Action Children’s Center is licensed as an Authorized Charity and reports directly to the Mexican Department of Infants and Families (DIF). DIF and other governmental agencies conduct unannounced inspections of the Center’s facilities and review our activities on a regular basis.

Love in Action Children’s Center works closely with child welfare authorities to provide a safe haven shelter in which these underserved children may grow up. We are not an adoption agency and are in no way associated with any reported adoptive practices. Love in Action has been wrongly and unfairly accused of being linked to illegal activities that go against the very nature of what this organization was founded to prevent. We hope this declaration serves to correct this tragic and unfortunate association in the minds of readers.

Weezie Burgess,

President, Love in Action Center Board of Directors
