I want to thank the City of Chapala

Dear Sir,

I have written previous letters to the editor about some of our not-so-friendly neighbors and the way local authorities have ignored Riberas del Pilar.

However, this time I want to thank the City of Chapala for finally responding to our numerous requests to help improve our garbage problems.

Last week I once again requested help. Mr. Mauro Perales of the new administration arrived the following day and we both came to the same conclusion: we certainly needed help. The very next morning, some 20 people arrived with brooms and bags and cleaned up the streets.  In addition, we now understand from Obras Publicas (the Public Works Department) that the road to the school, Calle San Antonio, will be graded and repaired, as will Calle San Diego.

I would like to thank this new administration for their quick and positive response. In fact, this the first time that we have received any response. This is what helps build communities.

Heidi MacLennan, Riberas del Pilar.
