Thanks Ruben Garcia!

Dear Sir,

Yesterday my husband and I were getting out of a taxi that was taking us to a friend´s home in Guadalajara after an eye doctor appointment. The taxi driver was friendly, so I practiced my little knowledge of Spanish on our way. When we arrived, the taxi was difficult for me to get out of, so I laid my iPad on the seat and then forgot about it and left it there. As soon as we went into our friend´s home I realized what I had done and my friend called the doctor´s office to see if they knew what taxi company was used. I described the driver as I remembered him. One of the secretaries (Christie) went outside and up to where the taxis were parked. She explained what had happened and they all figured out who the taxi driver was and the dispatcher was called.

In the meantime the taxi driver had an experience of his own. He picked up a fare on his way back to where he usually parks. Two men got into the car. The driver could see that they were fiddling with something. They originally told the driver to take them to a place that was quite far away. All of a sudden they asked to be dropped off quickly, which raised his suspicions.  As they got out of the car the driver noticed that they had my iPad. He told them that the iPad was not theirs but that it belonged to a prior customer. They argued with him about it and he said there was a policeman up ahead and that they could all go up and discuss it with him. At that point the two men gave the iPad back to the driver and left the cab. The driver then drove to the home of my friends and turned over the iPad.

I want to make sure that everyone knows the name of this very special person. His name is Ruben Garcia and his telephone number is (333) 198-0163.If you ever need a taxi in Guadalajara I certainly would recommend that you call him. I know I will!.

We as foreigners, often read or hear very negative stories in the foreign press about México. Our experiences in Mexico have been nothing but positive since we moved to Ajijic nine months ago from Scottsdale, Arizona. Please pass this onto your friends and neighbors. Perhaps it will help to counteract some of the very negative publicity that is received about Mexico.
