Thanks to those who helped Power the Tower

Dear Sir,

This is a letter of heartfelt thanks to the many men and women who dug in and helped in every phase of the Power the Tower event.  From the people who sold tickets, to the men who set up the tents, tables and chairs – thank you!

Thanks also to Taquizas Chapala’s Fonda for their delicious spread, Mariachi Los Gavilanes who provided music at a special price, DJ Eduardo for donating his time and equipment, and lastly, the Chapala Police Department, who helped coordinate the event and even guarded deliveries made the night prior to the event.

Many organizations came together to make this happen.  Of special note are Zane Pumiligia, Commander Post Seven, Perry King of the Shriners, Masons and American Legion Post Nine, and the Royal Canadian Legion #1 for their assistance, and the Guadalajara Reporter for its coverage. There are others, too many to mention, who spent a lot of time on all the organizational details required for a fundraiser of this nature.  Together these people worked hard and their cooperation made us a force of one.

Although we did not meet our goal, we are still hoping for more donations.  We found many people were unaware that the Chapala Police Department, while located in Chapala, protects ALL of Lakeside.  They patrol territory outside of Ixthaulacan to just short of Jocotepec.  This communication system will be an essential part of improving their response time and coordination with other emergency agencies.

Thank you all once again,

Tom Schmidt, Chaplain, American Legion Post Seven, and Vince Britton, Commander, American Legion Post Nine
