Thanks for the honor bestowed on me

Dear Sir,

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Ajijic Delegado Hector España and the people of our great town for the honor that was bestowed on me.  In the parade for Dia de Muertos, I was asked to, and gladly did, portray Pedro Loco astride Vino Blanco, his valiant burro.  I found out how beloved he is, even after his death. It was truly my honor to portray him and help people relive his memory.  Poor Vino Blanco, asked to go back into service after a year and to carry me in the parade!

I moved here too late to actually know or see Pedro Loco while he was alive, but before, during and after the parade, people kept telling me his stories, their experiences with him and about their love of this true character of our town.  The man was the embodiment of “doing his own thing,” and caring only for happiness and contentment and peace after a very full and successful life.

So thank you, once again, for the honor. Thanks to Vino Blanco, the intrepid donkey and Angel his handler for helping make it through the evening.

Jonathan Kollin,

San Antonio Tlayacapan
