Letters To The Editor - March 19, 2016

Dear Sir,

After reading of the huge new Coney Island-like amusement park slated to replace Cristiana Parque in Chapala, complete with parking for 1,200 cars,

I had to wonder - did anyone stop to think of the effect in the town of having so many more cars on the streets due to this new development?  Were the people of Chapala consulted about this?  Has there been any remote hint of urban planning?

Traffic in the entire Lakeside area is already gridlocked on weekends and peak vacation times.  There simply is not enough space to widen existing roads.  More development will only bring more traffic congestion, noise, and dust and air pollution to our towns, which will serve only to lower the standard of living for many local people.  Who will benefit from these grandiose plans - some outside developer?

Hindsight is cheap.  Foresight is golden.  It does not pay to destroy a town in order to save it.
