Dear Sir,
In John A. Sarceno’s letter to the editor, May 26, 2018, he wrote: “To make the claim in your article that President Trump dubbed immigrants ‘not people’ is malicious, irresponsible reporting and a complete fabrication.”
Actually, on Wednesday, May 16, Mr. Trump said: “We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in, and we’re stopping a lot of them, but we’re taking people out of the country. You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These people aren’t people. These are animals.”
This, according to USA Today and a gazillion other news agencies, is a direct quote.
It was only after the Mexican government filed a diplomatic complaint with the U.S. State Department that Mr. Trump said the following day: “I’m referring and you know I’m referring to MS-13 gangs that are coming in.”
No, I didn’t know what he meant and apparently neither did a few other million folks.
If you think the Reporter article “promotes a danger to expats here in Mexico” … pughleez. The danger to any of us will come from policy and an “unhinged motor mouth” that rests in Washington D.C. or Mar a Lago or Bedminster, or whatever golf course he fancies at the moment.
Notes Golf News Net: “How many times has Trump played golf as President of the United States? Since taking office on January 20, 2017, he has reportedly been on the grounds of his golf courses or played golf elsewhere 116 times … The cost of Trump’s golf rounds to the American taxpayer varies by round and course, but it totals so far in the tens of millions of dollars.”
Bless your heart and Viva Mexico.

Dear Sir,
First I want to thank Mr. Saracens for writing his letter. The Guadalajara Reporter was not only wrong but guilty of irresponsible reporting. President Trump was very clear when he made the statement concerning illegal immigrants being “animals” that he was referring only to MS-13 gang members.
There are many of us in Mexico who are simply appalled by the biased reporting in the United States. Why do we have to read the same dribble in our only English language paper here in our adopted country.
There are frequent articles attacking President Trump but none about all he has accomplished since taking office.
I think all expats should take the time to find out both sides of an article and not believe everything they read in the liberal press.
