Letters To The Editor - June 27, 2020

Dear Sir,

Mr. Savon, you would like statistics? Here you are. In December 2018 the unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, in May 2019, yea Donald, it was 3.6 percent.

In March 2020 it was 4.4 percent. The one million requests for Oklacovid tickets required signing a waiver that you could not sue Trump, the campaign, or the venue if you contract Covid-19 at the event.

So what is it he’s done for us? We are at 19,127 false or misleading statements made by Trump as of June 1. So there’s your facts and statistics.

Matt Sullins

Dear Sir,

Last week, Don Savon wrote, “In Mr. Tasca’s response to my letter, he did not mention anything good that the president has done.”

It’s a little difficult to dwell on what you consider Mr. Trump’s achievements, when he has inflicted so much damage on our nation. As Marine Corps General Mattis wrote recently, “Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people – does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us. We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort.”

Or consider the words of Retired Navy Admiral William H. McRaven, “Through your actions, you have embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and, worst of all, divided us as a nation.”

We could also mention some good things that Adolf Hitler did. His autobahn project led to a major reduction of unemployment. He tore up the hated Versailles Treaty, restored order, rebuilt the economy, and established national unity.
