Dear Sir,
Unlike other ballet companies around the world, members of the state-sponsored Ballet de Jalisco have not been given permission to request donations to help support themselves through the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.
Nonetheless, the company’s talented young dancers have been hard at work trying to keep the company together and remind the public of its tremendous contribution to the arts and culture scene in Guadalajara and Jalisco.
All on their own, they have created Ballet de Jalisco Digital, which has already aired two complete ballet performances, each shown over a three-day period on YouTube. They also produce daily interactive talks (in Spanish) about their individual training and preparation as professional dancers, as well as their daily life, on Instagram.
This weekend, the Ballet de Jalisco is celebrating its seven-year anniversary with a special virtual gala. They have chosen their favorite pieces from previous performances to mark this occasion. The gala will include pieces from Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker and Don Quixote, among others.
You can find the performance on YouTube, Ballet de Jalisco Digital, starting Friday, August 14 and available only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 14, 15, and 16.
You won’t want to miss this memorable performance!
