With respect to a letter written earlier regarding the possibility of returning The Met Live in HD series to Ajijic, I am pleased to announce that Moviespace Cine and the Chapala Opera Guild have agreed to broadcast this season’s (11) Met HD operas.
While we offer our deepest thanks to the current transmission sponsors and the (80+) season ticket buyers, we have in fact to-date missed our season ticket sales goal by a wide margin. I find this a bittersweet situation knowing how many residents and visitors clamor for more art, music and other cultural events in the Lakeside arts community.
So while especially the Moviespace ownership has endorsed this important MET Opera Season, I ask and challenge our residents and community leaders whose employees and businesses benefit from the Lakeside cultural attractions to now step up and commit to fund the modest amounts needed to sustain Ajijic Guild and Met Live Opera over the next three years.
I always say that cultural development “takes a village:” there is still time for those of you who love the arts, and business sectors like real estate, banking, medical, restaurants, hotels, grocery and others to buy season tickets and fund multi-year broadcast sponsorships.
