Creating extraordinary dining is a passion for many lifelong restaurateurs.
One such restaurateur has delivered culinary originality here at Lakeside for decades and nothing could set him off his mission, not even ill-health.
This is Roberto Snyder of famed but not forgotten Roberto's Restaurant, an iconic venue that enchanted Lakesiders for years. After some health setbacks, Roberto's was resurrected as Bobby's Terazza, where, as expected, this hot spot retained Bobby's precision in pleasing the most finicky diners. Regrettably, it too shuddered for some time due to Bobby's health.
Well, the gifted, undaunted man is back. With his new restaurant – Escondido.
Bobby is again at the helm, cheffing and creating. His fare had earned the unique title Gourmex in a previous review, because of the creator's magical mix of the local and exotic in all his fare. Escondido, as expected, drew a packed room on our recent visit there. The atmosphere was still warm and hospitable, the service ready and amicable, if a bit rushed, fulfilling the evening's expansive table attention needs.
