The Astros de Jalisco have been crowned champions of the Pacific Basketball Circuit (CIBACOPA) for the second successive season after defeating the Rayos de Hermosillo in six games.

The Guadalajara-based team lifted the trophy after a 93-86 victory in Sonora on Monday evening. The tight margins of the six games could not disguise the fact that the Astros, aided by their core of talented U.S. players, were clearly the league’s most dominant team.

The Astros will now turn their attention to the more competitive Mexican Professional Basketball League (LMBP). The Astros reached the finals of this tournament—Mexico’s premier professional basketball league—in 2012 and 2022, coming up short both times against Monterrey and Leon.  The LNBP starts on August 18 and runs through November 4.
