On Saturday, September 13, hometown boxing superstar Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez will arguably face the defining fight of his career. And even if you’re skeptical about the hype surrounding this Netflix-sponsored mega-event, there’s no question it has all the ingredients of an epic showdown and thrilling spectacle.
All eyes in Jalisco will be fixed on the 35-year-old Tapatío when he steps into the ring at the 65,000-capacity Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to confront undefeated American Terence “Bud” Crawford, 38, in what is billed as the most anticipated fight of 2025—and perhaps even the decade.
Canelo is putting his undisputed super middleweight championships on the line against a supremely talented opponent he has been fiercely criticized for avoiding in the past. It’s a must-see match-up for boxing fans, with everything on the line for the winner.
“They both have enough money. They both have enough accolades. They’re fighting for legacy,” said boxing analyst Claudia Trejos in a Netflix documentary promoting the fight.
