The state’s charity watchdog, the Instituto Jalisciense de Asistencia Social (IJAS), has launched its annual altruism prize to highlight organizations that are doing stellar work in their respective fields, as well as provide them with a cash stimulus.
The 12th Premio IJAS a la Asistencia y Promocion Social is open to all charities that have been affiliated with the state-run agency for at least five years.
Mexican and expat-run charities are eligible for the financial awards, which total 300,000 pesos in three categories.
The categories are for individual social benefactors (Benefactor Social - IJAS affiliation not required), groups working inside the Guadalajara metropolitan area (Institution Social del Area Metropolitano de Guadalajara) and those working in the rest of Jalisco (Institutional Social Regional).
Nominations must be accompanied by documentation of the charity or individual’s work and the benefits to society that they bring. The full list of requirements is available on the IJAS website at www.ijas.mx.
Applications should be received by August 7 by email or through the IJAS website.
The prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for November 12. For more information call (33) 3819-5322.
