Stand in line for a line of hot dogs

Guadalajara’s obsession for setting new Guinness records (18 and counting!) knows no bounds. No sooner had employees at local candy maker Dulces de la Rosa created the world’s largest marzipan (see last week’s Reporter), than intrepid record setters are off in pursuit of another mark.

On Sunday, August 12, dozens of volunteers – and hungry observers – will gather at the Calle 2 events center in Zapopan to create the longest-ever line of hot dogs. The current record was set in Kikuchi, Japan in November 2016, when 2,289 hot dogs were used to form a line measuring 350.66 meters.

Another record will be set during the upcoming International Mariachi Festival when the largest mosaic made from chaquira beads is unveiled.
