Chapala is gearing up to take another stab at the title in Jalisco’s annual Copa Jalisco soccer championship after placing second in last year’s contest.

Trials for players seeking spots on the local team have been under way this week. Meanwhile, Chapala Mayor Alejandro Aguirre (left) was on hand at the Estadio Jalisco for the official announcement of tournament details presented Tuesday, February 8, by Governor Enrique Alfaro.

The 2022 Copa competition, which will feature amateur men’s and women’s teams from all of Jalisco’s 125 municipalities, kicks off on April 9, with the finals set for August 7.
