A Nazi themed wedding in the state of Tlaxcala in which the groom wore an SS uniform and the bride turned up at the church in a Volkswagen Sedan adorned with a swastika has provoked widespread condemnation, both at home and abroad.
The wedding, which took place in Ecatepec on April 29, coincided with the date that Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun married prior to ending their lives in a Berlin bunker.
The story and photos of the wedding, which subsequently went viral around the world, was broken by the Milenio newspaper, which conducted an interview with the bride and groom.
The groom, who was referred to only by his first name, Fernando, is described an unrepentant admirer of Hitler, who, along with friends, runs a club in which events from World War II are recreated.
Fernando, who has two children with his now wife, said he baptized both of them wearing the same Waffen SS uniform. The children are named after General Reinhard Heydrich, a top leader of the SS and principal architect of the Holocaust, and Hanna Gertrud a general and a pilot of the Nazi Army who rescued Hitler from the bunker where he was hiding.
