Dead set on reviving Día de Muertos festivities in Ajijic, a group of community leaders formed an ad hoc steering committee to organize diverse happenings that will unfold in the village Monday, November 1 and Tuesday, November 2.
The student body from the Ajijic branch of the Cetac school will dress up in traditional fashion to lead the Night of the Dead parade through town on November 2, starting 7 p.m. from the new Muro de Muertos skull wall located at Calles Flores Magón and Ocampo.
Activities commence at 11 a.m. on both days with the setup of gastronomy and artisan pavilions on the plaza, complemented by ongoing cultural events. An exhibition of memorial altars, giant catrina figures and colored sawdust carpets laid out in the street will be ready for viewing by 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
