Ajijic workman dies from accident injuries

The Delegación Ajijic has lost a valued member of its workforce with the tragic death of Angel Granado Barajas on Wednesday, May 3.

Granado, well known to the local populace by the nickname Malache, succumbed to multiple injuries sustained in April 27 night-time highway accident when he crashed his motorcycle on the western outskirts of Ajijic.

After receiving preliminary treatment for wounds to his head, chest and extremities at a local medical facility, he was transferred to Guadalajara’s Hospital Civil, where he eventually died from respiratory failure.

Granados was well regarded for his steadfast work ethic in many years of service on the village maintenance and trash collection crew. His was also heralded for his jovial personality that won him many friends and admirers.

His body was transported to his home in the neighborhood of Seis Esquinas on Thursday afternoon, where relatives and acquaintances gathered to mourn his passing at a traditional overnight wake. A funeral Mass was scheduled for Friday May 5, 4 p.m., at the San Andrés parish, to be followed by burial at the local cemetery.
