While Ikea keeps the opening date of its new Guadalajara store tightly under wraps, the Swedish retailer is nonetheless making its presence felt in the city.
Staff hiring for the store, nearing completion at the Avenida Lopez Mateos and Cubilete intersection, commenced in the spring. Recently, Ikea installed a pop-up module in the Andares mall to promote the upcoming store, showcase products, and enroll customers in loyalty programs and future promotions. Located on the first floor near the movie theater entrance, the pop-up will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until November 10.
Additionally, an Ikea promotional van, dubbed the “little truck of surprises,” has been spotted around the city, offering freebies such as bags and flowerpots.
The Guadalajara store will mark Ikea’s third location in Mexico, following the opening of branches in Mexico City in April 2021 and Puebla in August 2022.
With 32,000 members already following Ikea Guadalajara’s Facebook page, speculation about the store’s opening date is rife. Some suggest it may open at the end of September, or just before the Buen Fin discount week in November, or possibly in time for the Christmas shopping season.
Regardless, it appears Ikea will unveil the store before the close of 2024.
