The November 14-17 Buen Fin, Mexico’s version of the Black Friday weekend in the United States, proved to be a huge success for businesses in this country, with sales up by 16 percent on last year.
Shoppers in 2014 were more savvy in their use of credit cards than in the past, Francisco Beckmann, president of the Guadalajara chapter of the National Employers Association (Canaco), said at a press conference this week.
Almost 60 percent of purchases under 4,000 pesos were in cash, he noted. Electronic items accounted for 37 percent of sales and clothes and footwear 36 percent.
