Flamenco showcased in two-month-long program

February 12: Professional dance group Cuerpo Nodo will perform the Con-fluir flamenco
Dancers in this group are Ana Lucía Humarán and Nashieli Buelna, both from Mazatlán and winners of recent national dance prizes. Tapatio Fernando Martínez, a renowned guitarist has toured throughout Mexico’s top cities as a member of  the company of the great Spanish dancer María Juncal Borrull.
On sax and singing is Santiago Maisterra, also of Guadalajara, who wrote the flamenco-fusion disc “Carita de Mar” in 2012. 

 February 19: the dance company of Pilar Villasante will present Bodas de sangre (blood weddings)
This company was founded 20 years ago and has performed throughout the republic. The work comes from the play by the Spanish writer, Federico Garcia Lorca, where the principal theme is the great drama of life, death and love, the only force to conquer it. The cast includes 16 dancers.

February 26: Grupo Algeciras presents the expression of different emotions that live in society during daily routines and the personal and group experiences that come from that. Dancers Mara Miramontes and Juliana Gonzalez Urrea perform with musicians Jorge Alba on Cajon, Diego Martinez on Chelo, Fernando Martinez on guitar and singer Patricia Solana. 

March 5: Viva Flamenco  performs “Flamenco in my skin,” expressing the sensations and feelings with a passion and fire in the languge of flamenco dance. Dancing are Leticia Cosio and Claudia Claverie, Singer Jose Miguel Moreno is backed up by guitarist Pepe Jimenez and Rodrigo Leon on percussion.  A whole team of back up support makes this group impressively professional.

March 12: Son de Maguey, a group from Veracruz presents entre palmas y jaranases, a spectacle where music and dance are performed within the intimacy of the town fair. Ajijic resident Leonor Zertuche and Tapatio Rodrigo Robles dance, Patricia Solana sings, Fernando Martinez is on guitar, Emiliano Huerta on cajon, Leonardo Reyes plays guitar and sings; on requinto and singing is Carlos Ochoa and Alba Lopez and Resurreccion Rodiguez are play jaranas.

March 19: Flamenco Ensamble presents lo efimero y el duende. Zacatecas dancer Bailaor Carlos Ramírez is accompanied by local musicians, singers and dancers.

March 26: Dance company Onda olé presents natural and organic Flamenco. On guitar is Fernando Soto,  Natalia Oñate, Julio de la Isla and Pedro Valiente sing,  Leonor Zertuche, Aida Morales and Emilia Gálvez dance. Other musicians include Gilberto Rios on bass, Jesus Eleazar on sax and Emilia galvez on cajon.
