Plush city mall is closed down

Guadalajara City Hall inspectors closed almost 200 businesses for non-compliance with Covid-19 protocols during the first week of the current phase of the pandemic.

The closures included the Centro Magno shopping mall on Avenida Vallarta, a few blocks from the Minerva Glorieta.

According to Julián Enrique Cerda, City Hall’s chief of Inspection and Vigilance, the mall was shut because no “sanitary filters” had been installed at the entrances to the three-tiered mall, which contains around 70 shops and businesses, including a popular “technology hub.”

Mall administrators are obliged to reduce their car parking capacity to 25 percent, close off all common areas and check the temperatures of everyone entering the premises. Chlorinated foot mats must be installed at the entrances to all stores, sanitary hand gel must be applied and  social distancing is required at all times. Restaurants may only operate to 50 percent of their normal capacity.  Tables must be appropriately spaced. The use of face masks is obligatory at all times.
