ZAPOPAN PARTIES – Last weekend, Zapopan registered 85 complaints about private parties being held throughout the metro-area municipality.

Few were broken up, however, and most of the revelers simply received warnings from municipal inspectors to reduce the noise levels and the number of people present. In addition, 37 Zapopan business were closed over the weekend for various protocol infractions, while inspectors shut down a rodeo taking place in Venta del Astillero with 300 attendees.

FACE MASK INFRACTIONS – To date, more than 1,500 bus drivers have been fined for either not wearing face masks or using them incorrectly, according to the State Transportation Department (Setran).  The use of face masks on public transport became mandatory on June 22. Setran reported that during the pandemic just over 15,000 passengers have been warned for ignoring the face mask directive. The issue has led to sporadic outbreaks of violence. On August 27, the driver of a Macrobus feeder bus was assaulted by a passenger who asked him to put on a mask.
