Eight people, including four children, died when a water tanker collided head-on with a Chevrolet Chevy near the La Mora subdivision of Tlajomulco on Tuesday.
Witnesses said the tanker veered into oncoming traffic at high speed along a stretch of Avenida Jesús Michel González. Several reports quoted officials at the scene who noted that the driver of the tanker, who was hospitalized with serious injuries, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Given the gravity of the incident, the driver has been charged with intentional homicide, and remanded to custody for a period of one year. All the victims were traveling in the one, modestly-sized car.
