Pandemic won’t stop holiday fun

Among those remembered will be María Luisa, who created the 20-meter-long dress for the Catrina that set a Guinness record in 2017 for being the tallest in the world. Situated about 20 miles east of Guadalajara, Zapotlanejo is renowned for the manufacture of all kinds of clothing, and is reportedly home to more than 2,000 mostly small, family-run clothes stores.

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations in downtown Guadalajara will include two parades of novias catrinas (brides and grooms dressed as skeletons) on Tuesday, November 2. The first, starting at 5 p.m., will see 40 couples ride in electric calandrias from the Expiatorio Temple at Juarez and Enrique Diaz de Leon, along Avenida Hidalgo to the Plaza Liberación in the city center. The second parade will be on foot, beginning at 5:40 p.m., following a route from the Plaza Liberación to the Plaza de Armas, Metropolitan Cathedral and Rotunda de Jaliscienses Ilustres, before culminating at the Municipal Palace.
