2 expos worth visiting this weekend

TlaquepArte

The annual exhibition of high-quality handicrafts, gifts and decorations from Mexico and Latin America, brings more than 150 top artesanos to the Centro Cultural El Refugio in Tlaquepaque Thursday, May 12, through Monday, May 16.

This giant bazaar has been running since 1997 and should have something to please everyone at a range of prices. The sprawling venue is perfect for housing the many vendors’ stands. And visitors can make a day out of the visit by taking in Tlaquepaque’s many other attractions. TlaquepArte is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Free entry. Centro Cultural El Refugio, Donato Guerra 160, Tlaquepaque (about three blocks from the main plaza).

Beer festival

Expo Guadalajara hosts the inaugural Cerveza México, Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14, open from noon to 10 p.m. on both days. Entry will be 100 pesos, is limited to people over 18, and includes a free glass. The beer festival will feature around 60 craft brewers mainly from Western Mexico, as well as some other areas of the republic.
