Booster shots with or without appointment

Free Covid-19 inoculations for various categories of citizens are continuing at the Benito Juarez Auditorium in Guadalajara, an official at the Jalisco Health Department informed the newspaper.

Booster vaccines (third shots) are available without a prior cita (appointment) for everyone aged over 12 who had their second jab more than four months ago, the official said. In addition, people over 60 wanting a fourth shot may get one at the auditorium without a prior appointment, he added. Their booster jab must also have been applied more than four months ago.  In both instances, the AstraZeneca vaccine will be given.

Everyone turning up for a vaccine should take documented proof of all their previous Covid vaccinations, a copy of their CURP, proof of address (CFE bill, etc.) and an official identification (INE credential, passport).

Although the SSJ official said appointments for booster shots are no longer necessary, they can still be made on the department’s website at vacunacion.jalisco.gob.mx.  Distrusting citizens may be inclined to follow this procedure before heading out to the auditorium. The site does not offer a method for obtaining an appointment for a fourth shot.
