Dr. Vagón, an 18-car health train that travels across Mexico offering free medical consultations and treatments, arrived at Tlajomulco’s former railroad station on August 19.
The fully equipped train provides a wide range of health services, including lab tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, mammograms, and the provision of glasses and hearing aids.
It also offers dental consultations, along with specialty services in dermatology, pediatrics, gynecology, ophthalmology, geriatrics, optometry and audiometry. Additionally, it has specialized clinics for breast cancer screening and comprehensive diabetes management.
In the past five years, the train— a joint public-private initiative— has visited over 100 mostly isolated communities across 22 states, providing more than 1.5 million free medical services to nearly 400,000 patients.
