Police secured another spider monkey this week — the third endangered primate found in the city within the last two weeks, and the seventh in just four months.
The latest rescue occurred in the Lomas del Paraíso neighborhood, where officers from the Municipal Police’s “Guardabosques” (Rangers) unit responded to a 911 call reporting a monkey inside a garage at the corner of Juan José de la Garza and María del Carmen Frías.
Upon arrival, authorities spoke with the property owner, who explained that the animal had belonged to his son for three years. The son no longer lived at the home, and the father voluntarily handed the monkey over to police.
