New sculpture ‘Lo Que Nos Une’ celebrates US-Mexico ties

On July 4, as the United States commemorated the 250th anniversary of its independence from Great Britain, a striking new sculpture was unveiled outside the U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara.

pg10aTitled “Lo que nos une” (“What Unites Us”), the permanent public artwork by renowned Jalisco-born artist Fernando Sandoval serves as a powerful symbol of the deep and enduring relationship between the two nations.

Rather than using traditional patriotic colors, Sandoval crafted the piece from reflective metallic surfaces, incorporating the viewer’s own image into the artwork.
