The lifeless body of a homeless Chapala woman around 35 years of age was discovered early Tuesday, February 19 on the patio set off Avenida Hidalgo near the west of the Malecón where she customarily slept.
The deceased was found by family members who frequently checked up on their wayward relative afflicted by alcoholism. Police arriving on the scene detected no signs of violence, presuming that the woman died of natural causes due to her addiction.
On Thursday, February 21, the corpse of a male homicide victim, between 20 to 30 years old, was discovered on a dirt path located close to the north end of the Libramiento bypass. He was apparently killed by a gunshot wound to the head.
Police have not determined if the murder is connected to gunfire heard in Chapala’s Plaza de Toros neighborhood around 11 p.m. the previous night.
