LCS continues outreach program to resident singles

The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) “Reaching Out Companions” program was created in March 2020 in response to special needs arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.

pg15bIts purpose was to assemble volunteers willing to make daily contact with LCS members who live alone, are sick or elderly, to find out if they are all right or in need of assistance.

Each companion is contacted daily by email and asked to email back to let the assigned volunteer know how he or she is doing. All companions have registered emergency contact persons whom the volunteers can notify in case they do not receive a response by a set time each day.  If that happens, the emergency contact person is called and asked to personally check to make sure the companion is okay.

LCS has now expanded the program to include non-members who would find it helpful. Plans are also in place to continue the outreach program once the pandemic subsides.

Persons wishing to join Reaching Out Companions will find a link to the registration form on the lakechapalasociety.com website homepage. Click on the logo icon, scroll down to click on the word **HERE**, fill out the information boxes and click on “submit.” For further information contact program coordinator Glorine Barnhardt by email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
