Spearheaded by María Victoria Corona Vega, the project to collect and preserve pre-Hispanic artifacts and assorted objects of historical value to the town began five years ago under the auspices of the non-profit Grupo Acalli. In 2019, the organization published a book about local history, customs and prominent people. It is among the souvenir items for sale to sustain the museum’s operations.
