Chapala authorities stepped in promptly in response to citizen complaints that dump trucks were seen disposing loads of earth on a lakefront property in Riberas del Pilar, in another presumed attempt by private individuals to appropriate federal land.
Inspectors from the Urban Planning Department, accompanied by police officers, slapped a temporary closure notice on the gates of the property a few hours after the possible land grab was reported. The order requires the responsible parties to present a permit from the federal government or cease and desist from filling in the lot.
