Danger lurks on Chapala area highways and byways as indicated by the rising number of recent motor vehicle accidents.
With more than one million visitors calculated coming to lakeside over the Easter holiday period, local traffic officers and first responders attended to 20 accidents, with three persons receiving attention for injuries and one detained for driving while intoxicated.
A dump truck traveling along the Libramiento bypass on the morning of May 3 suffered a mechanical failure, causing the driver to swerve into oncoming traffic and collide head on with a Coca Cola delivery truck. No serious injuries were reported.
