Artists of Lake Chapala unites local artists

Kathie Karancz opened the June 3 meeting of the Artists of Lake Chapala (ALC) group, which is replacing the defunct Artist Alliance of Lake Chapala.

At the meeting, each participant stated their name, and art medium.

Karancz reported that the Garden of Dreams Hotel has agreed to resume the Art Market events with the next event to be held Saturday, September 21 and future events on the third Saturday of each month.

Karancz, aka Tribal Turtle Creations, announced that she is offering a glass mosaic workshop this weekend, Friday to Sunday, June 8 to 10. The project is called “Glass on Glass Mosaic Teardrop”. Claudia Essenburg Rojas announced that the next ALC Third Thursday Social will be on June 20, 4 to 6 p.m., at Cocina Membrillos, (corner of Marcos Castellanos and Zaragoza, Ajijic).

Sidni Monroe invited all present to attend the June 30, 6 p.m. opening reception of her exhibit “Hands on Art” at Casa Domenech, Zaragoza 109, Centro, Ajijic. The exhibit will be on display throughout July.

María Blanco, an artist member of the Pro México association in San Juan Cosalá, informed the group of a children’s painting project that they are organizing in Jocotepec and San Juan Cosalá, to be conducted during the first two weeks of September. Monetary donations and volunteers are needed, in addition to art supplies such as paint brushes, paint, paper, etcetera. For more information or to offer assistance, call María at 333-590-6442.

The next ALC members meeting will be on Monday, July 1, 11 a.m. at La Bodega in Ajijic.
