Music, dance and crafts abound at Jocotepec Vive Fair

Enjoy an introduction to local history, live entertainment and a handicrafts exhibition this weekend at the Jocotepec Vive town fair, marking the 496th anniversary of the town’s foundation.

pg11bActivities start Friday, November 21, at 5 p.m. on the waterfront Malecón, with Mayor Hugo “Bombín” García presenting the Moment to Mark History program, leading into an inaugural parade and ribbon-cutting ceremony at the central plaza. Live music and a folk dance performance follow at 8:15 p.m.

The program for Saturday, November 22, starts at 9 a.m. with a bolero duo on stage at the plaza. A gastronomy exhibition opens at 11 a.m., followed by corn husk crafts at 2 p.m., textile arts at 3 p.m., Rondalla Femenil Chapala at 4 p.m., Ballet Folklórico Nuevo Amanecer at 6 p.m., a corn husk craft workshop at 8 p.m., and Mariachi Ajúa performing at 9 p.m.
