CU-Chapala admission exams draw 171 applicants

The hallways and classrooms at the University of Guadalajara’s Chapala branch (CU-Chapala) buzzed with nervous energy on Saturday, May 23 as 171 applicants were settling in to take the College Board Academic Aptitude Test (PAA). 

pg10bAll were there in the hope of gaining admission to one of the nine bachelor’s or engineering degree programs offered by the institution for the Calendar 2026-B academic term that begins in mid-August.

The testing session attracted applicants from various municipalities in the Ciénega and Ribera de Chapala region, most of whom are new or recent prep school graduates in the 17- to 18-year-old age group. However, there were also some more mature adults interested in continuing university studies. According to CU-Chapala authorities, women accounted for just over 57 percent of all applicants.
