Community leaders in San Antonio Tlayacapan have developed a new concept to revive and promote the town’s artistic, artisanal and culinary talents through a monthly marketplace set up around the central plaza.
The first Tianquiztli event is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with free admission to the public.
During a September 1 press conference, it was announced that visitors will find products from various creative disciplines, including ceramics, papier mâché, embroidery, weaving, embossing, jewelry-making, Wixárika beadwork, hand-crafted beauty products, carpentry, and diverse visual arts such as painting, printmaking and photography. There will also be culinary offerings of traditional foods, pulque and chocolate beverages, and innovative cuisine. Around 40 exhibitors have already signed up to display their goods. Live entertainment is also on the bill.
