Few victims reporting crimes

Only eight out of every 100 crimes committed were reported to authorities in Jalisco last year, according to the National Survey of Victimization and Perception of Public Security (ENVIPE).

Of these, even fewer were investigated, or the culprits brought to justice, ENVIPE revealed. The survey noted that 35 percent of victims said they did not report the crimes because they considered it a waste of time, while 12 percent said they distrusted authorities.
