Adults in Mexico City seem wary of the Cuban Covid-19 vaccine Abdala, of which 220,000 doses were made available to capitalinos in mid-December.
According to Ministry of Health (SSA) data, the pick up has been slow, with only 84,515 doses applied over the past month. The SSA invited anyone over 18 years of age, with more than four months since their last dose, to come forward for an Abdala booster shot. Although the vaccine has yet to be approved by the World Health Organization (WHO), Mexico’s health regulator, the Federal Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris), has given Abdala the green light.
